If you want to eat healthier but have less time than ever to cook, you'll find these time saving, small kitchen tools to be just what you need to cook quick and healthy meals for you and your entire family. Healthy cooking doesn't have to be difficult when you have these small kitchen tools to help get the job done fast:

A Vita-mix blender

The Vita-mix is the Cadillac of kitchen tools since it's able to perform the job of ten different kitchen appliances with one convenient, small kitchen tool. It can replace your food processor, blender, and juicer with one sleek and efficient machine. This allows you to create healthy purees, low fat sauces, low fat dairy treats, smoothies, sauces and more in minutes. Unfortunately, this convenience and versatility comes with a rather hefty price tag of around $400. Many people who own one of these multipurpose machines say it's well worth it.

A dehydrator

A dehydrator is a small kitchen tool that allows you to remove moisture from foods to create healthy snacks such as fruit leathers, low fat jerky, dried fruits and vegetables, granola, and more. You'll no longer have to settle for high calorie, unhealthy store bought treats and snacks when you can make them quickly and easily in your dehydrator. You can purchase a home dehydrator that rests on your kitchen counter for under $30.00

A salad spinner

Healthy eating usually involves eating more salad and raw vegetables. If you make your own salads and are pressed for time, a salad spinner can dry your greens quickly and easily, saving you the time consuming task of having to do it by hand. Plus, salad spinners are quite reasonable in price at around $25.00.

Kitchen scale

If you're trying to lose weight, you'll need to get control of portion sizes. A kitchen scale is small kitchen tool that will allow you to weigh your portion sizes. From the measured weight, you can determine calorie count, total carbohydrates, total protein, and fat content of each meal you eat. No more guessin!. Studies have shown that most people underestimate the size of the portions they eat.

The dehydrator is great! My folks gave us one. I have been drying apples and grapes. We go through more apples than I'd like to admit, and nothing beats home made raisins!!! I've taken plain, unsweetened apple sauce and added some sugar free flavoring syrups (sweetened with sucralose) and made great 'leathers.' Costco used to have occasional traveling shows from Vitamix and offered great prices on the Vitamixers, but it was out of our price range. If they come back again, I'll find a way to afford one!
