Let me begin by saying that I have nothing at all against educators. I was one, in fact, before I got married and left the profession to pursue a little adventure.

There are some outstanding, wonderful people in the profession who give their best to their students and have exemplary behavior. Unfortunately, there are also a few oddballs among the crowd that make you wonder who's doing the hiring nowadays.

As an example of some of the latter individuals who have made the news are the following:

Unusual curriculum

The students in Mr. Hutchinson's class at Huntsville High School in Arkansas will be able to tell this one to either their grandbabies or therapist someday.

The enthusiastic agriculture instructor planned to show his pupils how to skin a raccoon in order to get a look at what was in its stomach. The critter was not, as he thought, deceased when the volunteer parent brought it in. Of course, Mr. Hutchinson remedied this inconvenience by promptly doing the job himself with a nail gun. Afterwards, he presented the raccoon carcass to his anxious classroom of youngsters and went about his original task. .

More similar demonstrations are expected to come.

But did they sign their permission slips?

In a field trip that sounds more as though it were headed by Hugh Hefner, a group of Swedish teachers got busted by their students, while on a school field trip to Kenya. The teens filmed their instructors going into brothels with known prostitutes.

The apparent purpose for the field trip was supposedly to show the students how to "communicate" across cultural lines, but the kids never suspected the grownups had this kind of thing is mind. They secretly got their teachers on tape and presented evidence against them, once they returned to Sweden. When school authorities failed to discipline them, the upset students took the video to the press, creating a scandal..

Some people will do anything for a job
