Choosing the right bottle for formula feeding and pumped breast milk feedings can be a real challenge for new parents. Parents want the right combination of convenience, affordability and safety. The Playtex Premium Nurser system and the Drop-Ins Disposable Liners has just the right combination of features.Playtex Premium Nursers come in two sizes -- a 4 oz. nurser for younger babies and an 8 oz. nurser for babies with bigger appetites. The nursers come with a slow flow nipple, and three components: the cap, the retainer ring, and the nurser itself. The Playtex Premium Nursers are easy to assemble in just a few steps. Pop the nipple into the retainer ring, snap on the cap, and screw the ring onto the bottle. Playtex sells replacement parts for its Playtex Premium Nursers, but the components themselves are very sturdy and have survived being dropped, kicked, and squished by my two little ones.
In addition to the Playtex Premium Nursers, the Playtex system requires a liner. The liners themselves are preformed, pre-sterilized, and disposable. Playtex has previously sold two sizes of liners compatible with the 4 oz. and 8 oz. nursers. Recently, Playtex added a new Drop-In Liner that is expandable to 10 oz. The 10 oz. liner makes mixing larger amounts of formula right in the bottle possible, which has always been one of my complaints about the 8 oz. bottle. Previously, I had to fill the 8 oz. bottle half full, add the formula, then finish adding water to the 8 oz. fill line. The only complaint I have about the new expandable liners and the 8 oz. Playtex Premium Nursers is that the bottles now have two sets of measurements - 8 oz. and 10 oz. - that can be somewhat confusing if I am not paying close enough attention.
Parents will also be happy to know that Playtex Drop-Ins are bisphenol-A free. Bisphenol-A, which may leach from some polycarbonate baby bottles into the bottle's contents, has been linked to potential health concerns. However, the data at this time appears inconclusive.
