Celine Dion will begin her Taking Chances World Tour on August 12, 2008 in Boston Massachusetts.
Like many stars, Dion got an early start in music when she collaborated with her mother and one of her brothers, Michel, in creating the song, "It Was Only a Dream." Her brother, Michel sent the song recording to Rene Angelil, who decided to help Celine achieve her dream of becoming a famous singer.
Dion released several French albums before she attained American recognition. She competed in the Yamaha World Popular Song Festival and won the competition in 1982. She also competed in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988 and walked away with another victory.
Dion released her first English album Unison in 1990, with great success. Popular singles from this album included, "(If There Was) Any Other Way," "Unison," "The Last to Know," and, "Where Does My Heart Beat Now."
Dion's second album Celine Dion included the hit song Beauty and the Beast, which she collaborated on with Peabo Bryson for the Disney movie. The song won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Group or Duo and an Academy Award for Best Song. It was Beauty and the Beast that gave Dion the world attention she had sought.
Dion's fourth album Falling Into You was very successful as well with the hit singles, "Because You Loved Me," "Falling Into You," "All by Myself," and, "It's All Coming Back to Me Now," which became the theme song for the movie Up Close and Personal. This album received a Grammy Award for Best Pop Album and the Academy awarded Dion with Album of the Year.
Celine Dion received world attention again in 1997 when her song, "My Heart Will Go On," the theme song of the movie Titanic topped the charts in many countries around the world. Additionally, she received the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the hit song, which won four Grammies total, two of which were given to the songwriters.
