Nestled deep in the woods of far-southern Indiana, Our Haven Nature Sanctuary is one of the Midwest's magical treasures. The sprawling piece of land sits atop rolling hills and features a gigantic main campground, beautifully clear creeks, several shrines, several amenities that perk up the primitive setting for city dwellers, and a generous and hospitable host.
Pros
Beautiful landscape; playground equipment for the children; lots of festivals and campouts; down-right cheap membership ($25 for the year!); close to Louisville; wireless internet on the main field; shower house; shrines to several Deities; stage for music and dancing entertainment
Cons
Quite a hike from Indy and Cinci; camping is primitive (which is a con for some)

Manelqua Thomas and his family live on and are the stewards for this large parcel of land, in conjunction with the other members of the board, but it is clear from the very first trip down to the breath-taking and awe-inspiring sanctuary that they see it as belonging to the community. Mane practically welcomes each visitor home when they set up camp.
The large "main field" can probably hold 200 tents, with a well-defined and spacious ritual area in the middle of the area. A clothing optional camping area is also available for nudists and naturists, but this area is separated by a good-sized hill and a wooded area out of consideration for families with young children (and other "non-nekkid" types).
Camping is primitive, which may be a slight hardship for some of the city types who venture down to the sanctuary, but the shower house, permanent food vendor, and wireless internet accessibility go a long way to make the experience more posh.
The main ritual area boasts standing stones at each of the cardinal directions. Elaborate shrines have been established all over the site. Shrines to Brighid, Pan and the Ancestors are among the many spiritual hot-spots to be found during a visit. Of course, the whole place has a magical and sanctified feel.
