Black Friday's Not for Me

So many women say that they just love to go shopping. They get so thrilled over the deals and bargains in the stores. The Friday after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday because there are many sales starting the Christmas shopping season.

Women flock to the stores. They fight crowds to get into stores.

I'm not one of them. I'd rather sit at home, play video games, and eat leftovers rather than go shopping. I would rather sleep all day. I would rather watch mindless movies. It almost does not matter what it is as long as it is not shopping. The only things that will get me to go shopping is if my other choice is manual labor.

I hate shopping. I hate it with a passion. Many guys do not understand this even though they don't like to go shopping.

Women claim they love to be pampered. They love how people come up to them in the clothing stores and ask if they'd like to try on these different outfits. They love how the people cater to them. I hate it. I want to scream, "Leave me alone! I can find my own clothes, thank you!" However, I don't say that. I smile politely and thank them for the help.

Clothes shopping is a necessary evil. I even hate staying for a long time at thrift shops and second hand shops, and those are my favorite places to go clothes shopping.

What about other shopping? Some things are okay. I like grocery shopping. Yes, I like the chore that so many others hate. If I could, I just might work as a professional grocery shopper. People would come up outside the store, hand me the shopping list, and then I'd meet them at the front of the store in front of the registers. They could pay me for my services and then go buy their groceries. Plus, it would give me an extra excuse for riding shopping carts. (What? You don't do that? Admit it, you do it all the time!)

I like book stores. I love the fact that I can stop and read books. I can stay there for awhile, but without being able to stop and read, they get boring.

I like electronics stores. I can browse the newest technology and learn about it. However, that gets tiring after awhile too.

The best store is Dollar Tree. There I can get pens, pencils, note cards, paper, and many pantry staples and snacks.

Black Friday's Not for Me

It's called "Black Friday" because those stores are "in the black," but those who are shopping may actually be "in the red."

I wouldn't have gone shopping on "Black Friday" if they gave me anything I wanted and paid me to carry it out of the store!! I am not opposed to shopping -- just misery. Very good article. I'm with you on the book store. I love browsing Barnes & Noble. This is one thing my 21 year old grandson and I love to do together.

I like shopping, but in very specific environments. I don't like crowds, and I don't like salespeople who stalk me. I do like salespeople who learn what I like and recognize me the next time I come in. I like people who listen. I also like salespeople who, when I'm coming out of the dressing room with an item that "didn't work out" (like it was a bad relationship instead of a piece of clothing), take it from me and say, "Well, yeah - this was probably too big for you." It's not me - it's the pants. I liked that a lot.

I don't like shopping with crowds of people, and I never go the day after Thanksgiving. No amount of bargains are worth the aggravation in my opinion! Great article!

I avoid Black Friday shopping like the plague! I did it once, and will never do it again. Great read!

I'm with you. Crowds of people all intent on finding deals, the noise, the chaos- no thanks! Nice article!

I' m with on the Buy Nothing Day - except groceries of course. I went today and found the grocery store nearly empty - just the way I like it.
