Satan is a Thief: He Wants to Steal the Gold and Silver in Your Soul
Did you know that your soul has silver and gold in it? It sure does, if you read and hear The Word of God. Let me show you.
Psalms 19:10 likens the Word of God to gold. 'More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold'. Psalms 12: 6 likens The Word of God to silver. 'The words of The Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven
times'.
If The Word is in you, from reading, studying and hearing, then gold and silver is in your soul, and satan wants to steal it.
John 10:10 says, 'the thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy'. Satan wants to steal The Word from you because he knows how valuable The Word is. He knows the Word is good for you and that it is a weapon you can use against him.
The Psalmist David said in Psalms 119:72, 'the law of Thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver'.
How does satan steal The Word from you? In such a subtle way that you may not have even noticed. When you spend time with God by reading His Word, and then an hour later, do you find it hard to remember what you read? When you hear an awesome sermon Sunday morning, one that you said 'Amen' too, by Sunday afternoon, have you completely forgotten what the Minister preached on? If you answered 'yes' to either question, then it is not old age or having a lot on your mind that is causing you to forget The Word, it is satan stealing The Word from your mind. In James 1:25, we are referred to as 'forgetful hearers'.
We have to make a conscience choice to remember the Word of God that we read or hear, to hold onto the silver and gold in our soul. Psalms 119:16 says, 'I will delight myself in Thy statutes, I will not forget Thy word'. Meditating on what you have read or heard, bring every thought captive unto the obedience of Christ, when your mind begins to wander. Conscience choices to retain your soul's silver and gold.
Since The Word of God is likened unto silver and gold, by reading, studying and hearing The Word of God you are putting silver and gold in your soul. Don't let satan steal it.
