The Presidential Election campaign for the 2008 Presidential Election is well underway. Although the potential exists for a new candidate to decide to run for President for the 2008 Election, most 2008 Presidential candidates have announced their candidacy. Most of the candidates formed some type of exploratory committee or let known their candidacy by last Fall, in November of 2006. The first debates started in February of 2007.

With all of the bustle about the 2008 Presidential Election, I can't help but feel some interest in watching a debate, or researching a candidate on the internet. I think probably most of us are feeling the buzz of this US Presidential Election.

On Thursday, November 15th, 2007, there was a democratic presidential candidate debate on television, which happened to be re-aired Friday, November 16th. I caught part of this debate. One of the main tenets of the debate was a direct question to Hillary Clinton as to whether she felt she was using her being a woman as a way to get votes. (The other candidates also got a chance to answer this question about Hillary).

This made me think, would I ever run for President?

Why, you ask, would this question to Senator Hillary Clinton make me ask myself whether I would ever run for President?
Because I am a female. This question to Senator Clinton stopped me dead in my tracks. It made me call into my innermost thoughts and think about, really THINK ABOUT, the Presidential Election of 2008. What is going to make a candidate win? What will be the deciding factor?

For me, it really may come down to the fact that Hillary Clinton is a female. I have to admit that I, like many other females in the United States and also many males, would really like to see a female President take office in our lifetimes. We have seen so many men come through the White House since we have been alive, and we've seen so many things go wrong! Many females and pro-female-candidate men see an opportunity with a female President to use a different approach, and turn around the downswoop in the American economy and spirit. Perhaps a female could bring peace to the World instead of war.
