8th India-EU Business Summit

From 28-29 November 2007 India will host the 8th India-EU business summit in its capital New Delhi.

Organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), in cooperation with Portuguese Industrial Association - Business Confederation (AIP-CE), Confederation of Portuguese Industries (CIP) and BUSINESSEUROPE, the two day summit is themed "Technological Innovations for Sustainable Development".

Mr. Kamal Nath, India's Minister for Commerce and Industry will attend the inaugural session along with Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal, CII President, Mr. H Khorakiwala, President, FICCI, Mr. Rocha de Matos, AIP-CE President and CIP representative, Mr. Philippe de Buck, BUSINESSEUROPE.

Indian Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh is scheduled to give the keynote address.

India-EU Business

During 6th India-EU Business summit in 2005 a joint EU-India Action Plan was adopted to facilitated trade and relationship.

Sectors targeted under the plan are: Trade, Transport, Environment, Energy, Science and Technology, Space Technology, Information and Communication Technologies, Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology, Industrial Policy, Customs Co-operation, Dialogue on Economic and Financial Matters, Employment and Social Policy, Agriculture and Business Dialogue & Co-operation.

Organizations devoted to support India-EU relationship have also been established, to add to the ongoing cooperation. India EU Council is one such joint venture.

The council has offices in Sofia, Bulgaria, Vilnius, Lithuania and New Delhi, India. Its headquarter is in Warsaw, Poland.
