We all have a neighbor or two who litters their lawn with Christmas blow ups and reindeer and has enough lights on their house to give Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation a run for his money. That's all well and good until January second, but neglecting to remove and store the Christmas decorations after the holidays is tacky and a little irritating to look at. Whether it's laziness, lack of time or just a desire to make the Christmas season last a little bit longer, it's a problem common in most neighborhoods. We all love decorating our homes and property for Christmas, but without a doubt Santa and his reindeer should be removed at the very latest the day after New Years. There are some Christmas decorations that can be left in place until the last of Winter winds blow that do not sacrifice good taste and also make your home a cozy place to be. Snowmen. Snowmen are whimsical decorations that remind us of the fun of the winter season. They evoke thoughts of sledding, snowball fights and a warm fire roaring inside while Mother Nature blankets the earth with fresh snow. Snowman decorations come in all sizes and styles. You can place a large snowman cozily dressed for winter inside your front door as well as snowman figurines on your mantel and windowsill to bring some cheer into your home during the winter months. A tasteful snowman that lights up can be left outside after Christmas and plugged in every evening to welcome winter visitors.
Candles In The Windows. Traditionally, lit candles were placed in windows to welcome weary travelers who needed a safe and welcoming place to stay for the night. Why not continue the tradition all during the winter and leave your electric candles in the windows? Not only will they make your home a little lighter during the dark months of winter, they will also be a lovely welcoming for your guests stopping by for a cup of hot cocoa or tea during the winter.
