GT Xpress 101 Product Review

A User Review of the GT Xpress 101 Machine

Okay, I fell prey to an infomercial!  I had seen the Xpress 101 commercial several times, and thought it seemed interesting. I do love to cook, and have a George Foreman grill, which I used quite a bit (wore the coating off eventually). So, after a few months of debating, I went to
the Xpress 101 website and ordered my machine. First off, there is no way to order just one. It automatically comes with 2 machines, you just pay the shipping on the second. There is also an upgrade offer to a 4 chamber model as well. I just opted for the 2nd unit. It will certainly make a good gift for someone. The order arrived about two weeks after I placed it online.

When the unit arrived, I was a little surprised at its size. The chambers seemed smaller than they did on TV (but then the camera adds 10 pounds to people, so why not added chamber size?).  Also included in the box were: two recipe books, a plastic mixer/shaker, a plastic lifting tool, a dough pocket maker, and a flavor injector syringe (complete with lethal looking needle point!).

After perusing the instructions and the recipe booklets, I decided to try Mixed Berry Corn  pancakes recipe. This recipe called for a box of Jiffy corn muffin mix, an egg, 2 tablespoons of oil, half cup of milk and half cup of mixed berries. I plugged the unit in and allowed it to preheat while I mixed all the ingredients together. I used plain frozen blueberries for the fruit. The indicator light went out and I used non stick spray on the wells for insurance. I set my timer for 8 minutes. After 8 minutes, I lifted the lid and found nicely browned pancakes. I tested them with a tooth pick, they were done so I removed them with the lifting tool and used the rest of the batter. I have to say, these were very tasty! The were perfectly cooked and moist. I split the pancakes in half, and they seemed much like a normal cornmeal pancake would be, albeit half moon shaped instead of round.

Okay, here's my rambling review. I purchased my first model used at a thrift store for $4. It didn't come with any of the accessories like the cookbook, and I had only watched a glimpse of the infomercial while they used it to make omelets and other egg dishes so that's what I did not realizing I could use it for other foods. I figured, for 4 bucks I couldn't go wrong! It worked great and I never had any problems, but I oiled it often and only used plastic or rubber spatulas. I used it for about 9 months before my local farmer's hens stopped laying, as they usually do during the colder months (I only eat his organic free-range eggs because I know his hens are pampered little pets.) So, with no eggs the GT Xpress got pushed to the back of my cabinet and was forgotten until we recently moved. On moving day, only the very essential items were taken in our pickup because we could not afford movers and the GT Xpress was donated back to the thrift store. Then a couple weeks ago I had

hey everyone out there, have your credit card company or your bank start a claim for you for the items you were charged but didn't order. Your bank or credit card company will investigate and try to get the money back for you. Remember your they are there for you, put them to work. good luck to you all. I am working for a credit card company and we help customers all day long just like you. We don't always help them get the money back, but we DO HELP A LOT PEOPLE GET MONEY CHARGED TO THEIR CREDIT CARD OR ACCOUNT (UNAUTHORIZED) ALL THE TIME!

I don't know who you bank with, but you can go to your banker to have them put in a claim for the unauthorized amount, since you only authorized the lesser amount. Most banks will help you do the research and try to have the funds refund back to your account within anywhere between 10-90 days. Good luck!

I also ordered 2, but was charged & deducted much more from my accout that I O.K.'d. Customer service was VERY RUDE & insisted I had O.K.'d this amount. Said she was supervisor & refused to do anything. Said I could send all back(unused-but I had used right away) at my own expence. Money had already been deducted from account. Not sure what to do next.

cont.......I think you can use this machine for more than 2 people. I just used both machines and I have 4 people in my family. I love it and will continue to treaures my new kitchen treasure. Ow and it makes great poched eggs also. Plus I made regular pancakes. That is a total of 8 things I have cooked in it in 5 days. I have an old snackmaster at home that makes those triangle shaped sandwiches. Well I grill chicken fahitas in that thing. Just goes to show you, you never know what you can do until you try. Any tool can be the right tool. lol.

I love this machine also. I have been watching the commercial on TV and wanted one. I love kitchen gadgets also. Well it so happened I was out one day looking at a yard sale and saw one. Or should I say two. The lady had just bought it 4 months ago. Used it once and she didn't like it. The second one was still in the box with all the stuff minus the food injector. She sold it to me for $10. WOO Hooo. YES! I have used it a few time and I have only had it 4 or 5 days. I made one of the tortilla shell roll up with smoked turkey, munster cheese and honey mustard. Yummy!!!!! So good my son snagged the other half. lol. I made calzones last night. They were yummy also. I would advise using a little less than 1/4 pd of dough per calzone. Tomight I made meatloaf it it. I used by machines and made 6 loaves. I made 4 first, then 2 loaves in one and made baked potatoes in the other one. I also made the stuffed chicken breasts and plain seasoned chicken breasts. The chicken turns out so moist .A+

for those of you charged for cookbooks or recipe books you did not order, Contact the better business bureau and they should be able to get a refund for you. Also you can contact the US Postal Service you can file a claim, if the items were mailed via the Postal Service. It is illegal to charge a person for items they did not order. If they charged you credit card, you can also inform your credit card company about the fraud and the company should refund you money on your credit card, after they investigate.
