In a November 18th press release of the Reset Group it was announced that the organization is conducting a benchmark study for hospitals to help in reducing the cost of operations for their client health care organizations. The press release also remarked that the benchmark study will be useful in reforms in health care providers that might occur in the future. Some of the tools available to the Reset Group include advanced data validation techniques, performance matrices and access to fair marketing values of services, according to the press release. The Los Angeles based Reset Group will study and compare hospitals and health care providers in California and across the United States as well as internationally, stated the press release.

The Reset Group indicated that based on previous studies the organization believes that many of the cost reduction procedures possible will come out of non-clinical areas of hospital management such as the procuring of services by the hospitals to maintain day to day operations. Chris Bishop, the Director of Bench Marking in the Reset Group was quoted in the press release as stating that "the previous international studies had resulted in substantial cost reductions for hospitals. This included hospitals reducing their vehicle claims by forty three per cent per year, and improving the energy efficiency of vehicles."

The Reset Group press release indicated that Mr. Bishop expects around seven hundred and fifty hospitals and health care providers to participate in the study which is available on line at the Reset Group's website. It was stipulated in the press release that only those hospitals that participated in the study would be able to view the complete results of the benchmark study.
