Everyone likes a Cinderella story. This year the KU Jayhawks football team seems to be one team living it. The Jayhawks started the year as an unranked team and now are ranked number two in the BCS standings. It is definitely a great year for the team that missed out on being selected for a bowl game last year. The first four games of the season, KU played several colleges that were definitely not household names. Central Michigan, Southeastern Louisiana, Toledo, and Florida International may not have been big name schools; however they resulted in "W's" for KU. KU Jayhawks began garnishing more respect through the season as the number of wins increased. One by one, the Big 12 schools have fallen to the Jayhawks. The team seems unstoppable now.
The question for Kansas is not, "Will we go to a bowl game?" anymore. It is, "What bowl game will we be invited to play?" With the Big 12 slotted to have spots in eight bowl games, it is now a favorite guessing game for all to play. A championship bowl game is definitely a possibility. The other potential bowl games are the Cotton Bowl, the Holiday Bowl, the Alamo Bowl, the Gator or the Sun Bowl (depending on which one selects a Big 12 team), the Insight Bowl, the Independence Bowl, or the Texas Bowl.
The final game of the season for KU Jayhawks is a matchup against the Mizzou Tigers, who were rated number 2 last week. These teams are rivals every year, but this year ought to be especially fierce. Neither team will have home field advantage, as the game is being played at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium. KU is hoping that a win in this game will put them in as a serious contender for the championship bowl.
Depending on who is making the prediction, KU will likely play in the Cotton Bowl, no wait . . . the Holiday Bowl. Or is it the Sun Bowl? Unless your crystal ball works better than mine, I will enjoy next weeks game against Mizzou , and wait for the real answer.
