How to Keep the "Happy" in "Happy Holidays"

Many people are going to be visiting family and friends for the holidays while some will be alone. No matter what the situation, depression during the holidays can eliminate the happiness. Whether it be relationships, financial, health or, mental problems, there are warning signs that should not go ignored by yourself and family members to avoid negative holiday experiences. Here are six ways to maintain the "happy" in Happy Holiday:
1. If you are having issues with family members, take out time to discuss issues before family gatherings begin. This can help to avoid potentially embarrassing confrontations at large gatherings when pressure can build and emotions will explode. Take people aside and discuss issues you have or they may have with you to bring resolution to conflicts instead of ignoring them.
2. Be fair. If you have recently divorced or split from a mate and share custody of children ownership of pets and property don't selfish limitations or requests that could cause someone else pain. The holidays are for the spirit of thanks giving, joy, love and peace, not a time for revenge and anger.
3. If you have lost a loved one to death try to honor their memory without making it depressing. Celebrate their memory and share positive moments that will bring joy with out reliving the painful loss.
4. Avoid financial burden. Thanksgiving is not about who can fix the biggest dinner and Christmas is not about who can by the most biggest expensive gift. If it is going to hurt you financially now or later don't feel pressured into needless spending. There are several ways to get assistance financially over the holidays and programs for low income. Find creative ways to give with out the spending there are a bounty of resourceful ideas available on the internet.
