When I was growing up I was told that animals didn't have souls and therefore wouldn't be in Heaven, but as an adult I've done a lot of research and a lot of thinking on this controversial subject. I've developed a deep understanding of the love of God and the love He has for the animals of this earth. God loves all of the animals He has created, and I've always found it difficult to believe that animals aren't in Heaven and their lives end upon the death of their physical bodies.

Although I respect the beliefs of fellow Christians, I have an explanation and an answer for anyone who says our animals won't be in Heaven when we pass on to everlasting life. I dearly love all of the animals I've cared for during my lifetime - from the wild birds and squirrels that visit my feeders to my precious pets, and I expect all of my beloved pets to be waiting for me in Heaven when my life on earth is through. Specific passages in the Holy Bible tell us that animals are in Heaven, and this is a comfort to those who want to know they'll see their beloved pets again.

Animals Mentioned in Heaven

God dearly loves all of the animals of the earth, and the following Bible passage specifically mentions animals in heaven. Isaiah 65:25 says, "The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord."

The Book of Revelation 5:13 also mentions animals in heaven. It says, "And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever."

My Dog Bart passed away 5 years ago,but he refuses to leave me.He jumps up on my bed all the time.He is a Rottweiler so there is no mistaking this as his wieght rocks my bed.In the morning if I get up and them try going back to sleep he gets upset and nudges me until I get out of bed.I can even feel him do his circle and lay down.I waited for a full moon and took pictures and finally got his ghost in several pictures;his inner parts are white looks simular to clouds or smoke;his skin and fur are black.I can see through only the black, through to my pillow. He is also wearing his collar!!I took a holiday and while laying down in my Motel he jumped up on the bed-hehe!When this first started to happen it freaked me out,and I thought my house was haunted;but I contacted a medium and she knew right away.According to her this is very common. So all you people who have lost a pet do not worry, you will see them again;I peronally gaurantee this.

Geez Jeff, than we should all just off ourselves right now if there's nothing to look forward to. How inspiring.

Here's the thing...God said it, I believe it and that should settle it buuuuut, unfortunately it doesn't with some but that's okay! They can believe what they want...To me it is a FACT that there is a God and a heaven and hell and that my baby Bichon will be there waiting for me. I keep waiting for him to come back now because I am not sure how long I can wait in this toilet of a world. Other than my loved ones and the Joy of knowing Jesus...beyond that there isn't anything but bickering and people cutting me off in traffic and everyone else and name calling because someone doesn't agree with what you have to say, pollution because people CHOOSE to trash our world...I'd go on but I'm already getting everyone depressed. On a much positive note: I am a Christian who believes that the bible is FACT and that Animals Will go to heaven...Love you all...enuff said. Peace!

I definitely believe animals go to heaven. Even those we kill for food go to heaven. God first created the world with the thought that all things shall live forever. It was sin that created death. I've been looking at this a lot because I've been taking the death of my mom's dog, Micron really hard lately and my baby is 12 years old, so he's up there in age. I know he can't live forever, though I pray he'll live many more years yet. When I read Bible verses, I come to the conclusion that animals will be in heaven. It wouldn't be heaven without them. It would be a very boring place.

I came across this piece after I posted a story with similar ideas. I have owned dogs my entire life and I have always been very sad when their time came to go, and one little bit of solace is the idea of seeing them again someday. I am glad there are plenty of other people out there who feel the same way. This is a great article.

God is a fair and just god he loves all of his creation and if he loved animals enough to make them don't you think he loves them enough to allow them into Heaven? If they were important enough for him to make them don't you think they are important enough for him to allow them into heaven? Animals (cats, dogs, etc) are the sinless ones they don't rape, kill, steel, etc. they don't take gods name in vane. they don't need to be saved because they are already saved they are sinless. animals are the ones that have the guaranteed spot in heaven. we need to be saved because we are sinful. so I believe that if god loves humans that are sinful to allow them into heaven he must love the animals (cats, dogs, etc) the ones that are sinless to allow them into heaven. God wouldn't have made animals if they weren't important to him. And sense they are important to him they must have a purpose in heaven. Maybe to help God or keep him and us happy. They are worth a spot in heaven a lot more than us.

One last comment. I thought I explained myself well enough on Linda's article, but instead I was judged on Linda's article because of a comment left by an athiest on my article. I stand by my belief that I DO NOT have to agree with an athiest. He can be as different as he wants, and I won't bother him at all. As far as religions go, I have always believed that different religions are simply a different road to the same place, and I DID NOT JUDGE ANYONE. Those who really know me, know better. I won't ask an athiest ridiculous questions about his disbelief on his articles and try to start trouble. I agree to differ, but I will never agree with an athiest - especially on my article on pets in Heaven, and I DO NOT apologize for it.

I am glad that Alycce came back and said that she wasn't trying to start a controversy. This is an excellent article and I wholeheartedly agree with Crystal. Shana

Thanks for understanding, Alyce. I really wasn't trying to insult Jeff in any way. Also, I think it will take time to get used to AC's new look. I'm having a little trouble finding my way around, and I've noticed a few glitches, but I'm sure they'll work them out.

Yikes, I do not like AC's new look, but did notice you are number one today on the 5 most popular. Congratulations. (That is, it was a bit hard to find this article again, with the new look.) You were hurt by Jeff's comment, and your attributing it to "poking fun at you" might be his motive. I do not know him well enough to say, because I do not read his articles anymore. I was just offering some food for thought, not intended to start controversy. (not that I am implying you meant that to me) Jeff did not come back and start a comment war, so it seems it was just an idle comment. It seems most everyone has things they do not agree to disagree upon.

continued.... we're ALL destined to find out!

My article wasn't meant to spark controversy, debate, or arguments, and it wasn't meant to pass judgement on anyone. It was meant to provide comfort to those who believe in an afterlife and have lost a pet. I don't know what's in Hell, and to tell you the truth, I really don't care. I apologize for saying that it's sad for those who don't have any type of belief in an afterlife. They're really not my concern, and yes, we can agree to disagree on anything and everything. I don't know it all, and I don't believe that human being does. For that reason, I don't argue or debate. It's a waste of time. Those who enjoy a good argument won't find it here. Since Jeff said he doesn't believe in an afterlife, his question seemed like nothing more than a way to poke fun at my article - something he doesn't believe in to begin with. Although I submitted the best answer I had, I'm big enough to admit that I could be wrong. Life has many mysteries, and so does death. One thing is for sure - we're ALL

The reason I see Jeff's question as a good one is because I never wondered about dogs going to hell. If the Christian concept of heaven exists, then so too does hell as it is commonly believed to be. Does the pit bull or rotweiller that unprovoked killed the 3 month old baby or young child get a free pass to heaven? The reason I ask about agreeing to disagree on your reply to Jeff, is the command to: Judge not lest ye be judged. I doubt that you could prove that statement and as such it is his belief versus your own. Or the kind of thing we can agree to overlook in others rather than condemning them.

"The only unforgiveable sin is unbelief, and animals don't have the free will..." can we agree to disagree on that one? I think Jeff's question was a good one. I spent a lot of time undoing damage done to a daughter's psyche done by a very lovely Christian lady. I do believe Lori will be reunited with her beloved pets beyond the grave. No one can convince me that animals do not have souls. I have a little different vision of heaven then the Biblical one. For Lori, I use the word heaven and she is now comfortable with knowing she will see them again in heaven.
