For many left-handed people the world is a backwards place. Despite the fact that nearly one out of ten people are left-handed, nearly everything people come into contact with on a daily basis is designed with right-handed people in mind --from school desks to scissors to the mouse on a computer.

With that in mind, it's time to celebrate some left-handed people who have become some of the biggest celebrities on the planet. While studies show that being left-handed is more common in men than in women, try telling that to these left-handed actresses.

I had a teacher who did the same thing. I was (still am) left handed and was told that "only stupid children are left handed." So I was forced to write, cut etc. with my right hand. Today I can write pretty much equally with both hands.

Both of my kids are lefties. They are both adopted so they think it is really cool that they have this in common. It DOES take a lot of thought for all of us to sit at a table together and eat. We've made a rule, lefties sit left of righties or otherwise we keep bumping elbows. I'll share this. Of course they won't recognize all of the names but they do know that Jolie and Kidman are Moms through adoption.

I love reading this kind of entertaining article. My hubby, his brothers, and my daughters are all left handed. While in school the teachers changed my hubby, and one of my daughters to be right handed. This is not usually a good thing to do to a natural born lefty, but now they are capable of using both hands quite well.
