Having recently revisited several backlist articles of my own and other AC Content Producers, I am compelled to pen these lines. Let the derater(s) be advised: Stars may be falling, but we are most assuredly not!

Ah, there he is, the sad derater.
Ah, there he is, the sad derater.

AC Derater, ticks off the stars at the top
Where a writer has been,
Smashes a dream,
Waits in the shadows,
Wearing a face that he hides with a cyberspace shade,
Who is he kidding?

Ah, the sad derater.
Where did this clown come from?
Ah, the sad derater.
Where does this clown belong?

Skilled AC authors, writing the words so creative
That others will read,
Page views indeed!
Here comes Derater,
Clicking down stars in the dark,
When there's nobody there,
How does he dare?

Ah, the sad derater.
Where did this clown come from?
Ah, the sad derater.
Where does this clown belong?

AC Derater, under a rock in the muck
With his curser and mouse,
Alone in his house,
Skilled AC writers, wiping the tears from their eyes,
As their ratings descend,
When will it end?

Ah, the sad derater.
Where did this clown come from?
Ah, the sad derater.
Where does this clown belong?

You are an outstanding poet, and you express the feelings of many AC writers when addressing the dysfunctional beast known as the derater.

Great poem. I've gotten where I don't look at the ratings any more. I can't help but feel sorry for the poor soul(s) who have nothing better to do than to down rate excellent articles.

Great work! The rating system is not always fair. Sophie

That's sad, and mean. Don't worry, you get a 5 from me! Great poem.

We've all been hit. Hopefully all know it is no relfelction on their work-it's just some sad pathetic person or persons who has a severely low self esteem problem-it helps to have funny poems to help us remember not to take it personally.

:-) I just gave this a five, although I am not even sure how his rating system actually works? I have never downed anyone, cannot see why anyone would want to. Great piece as always.

Great job....It is sad that anyone would go and derate another person's articles....I know it happens but it is sad.

I think that AC needs to do away with the rating system. Great read Linda.
