I just read an interesting commentary written by Bill Cosby. He is preaching to the parents of the uneducated children. His closing remark has me thinking. "It's never been about color... it's about behavior." I don't claim to be a great philosopher but I think we can all look at this in another part of our lives.

Our country is facing a voter apathy issue of epidemic proportions. This past election I noted more than a few local candidates running unopposed. I'm sure these incumbents have done a great job but isn't there one person that has some fresh ideas and the passion to pursue them. I can understand the apathy when there is no choice. Are there any patriots left in our area?

I believe our current dilemma isn't about politics but about our attitude. Republicans and Democrats are equally responsible. The politicians have written a "Do Not Call" law but have the insight to exclude themselves. Is this true representation of the voters? The politicians are wringing their hands about the Social Security shortfalls. Do you think perhaps they would be quicker to solve this problem if they too paid into Social Security? What if all politicians paid only the self employed Social Security rate of 15.3% on all campaign contributions?

We all marvel at the millions of dollars spent on a presidential campaign. I know it creates jobs and income for some but what about the everyday folks like my wife and I.? We don't understand why anyone in their right mind would spend millions of dollars for a job that pays $400,000 per year. The perks are nice but the responsibility is beyond any economic rationalization.

It doesn't matter if you are running for President of the USA or Mayor of Fremont, Ohio you as a candidate need to stop the mud slinging. What happened to the concept of running on your own assets instead of all the negativity you can find in your opponent? Are you afraid we will see the real you?

I still have faith in the American People! These colors don't run.....outside the United States or inside. There will come a day politicians will not have the final say. Good job.

The problem is that politicians have been in the job too long. They no longer feel any obligation to the people at all. They could care less what their constituents want. The system is broken and needs to be taken apart and put back together. Unfortunately, that is never going to happen. People know that and that is why they have given up on voting. They no longer believe that their vote makes any difference. And the real truth is, it doesn't.

Good insights. I agree on voting for someone who would spend millions to obtain a job that pays only thousands.
