Are you struggling for an idea for a themed birthday party? Have one based upon Star Trek. There are the early years of Star Trek, the movie series, and the New Generation. Then you have Voyager, Deep Space Nine, and then the latter new Star Trek version. That is six different themes within the encompassing Star Trek theme! You can choose one or all of them. Either way, your son (or daughter, if she is into that sort of thing) will love you for it.

Yes, I am a fan of these shows, but it is a departure from the cowboy and Indians, or other more common themes. Unfortunately, unless there is a place you know that has the party favors for any of these, you will have to order them online. Then there is the question of everything arriving on time for the party. Nonetheless, a birthday party based upon Star Trek would prove to be interesting.

The birthday cake could be shaped to look like the top view of the Starship Enterprise. Then there could be one of the Vulcan ship or many others. You could get really fancy and make a tiered cake of the Enterprise and wow the boys with your craftiness. Cupcakes could be made to look like the trills from one of the episodes. Another idea is to have a large sheet cake depicting a scene from your son's favorite episode.

Birthday hats could have emblems of the various races mentioned in the series or just have the rankings of the officers on them for fun, too. You could pass out stick on emblems for their shirts to pretend to communicate with each other.

Folding napkins cleverly would provide trikwarters for the kids. Maybe you have a collection you don't mind letting them use.

You could have a party punch that would have an odd color to it, and an unusual flavor. Mixing fruit punches with ice cream would be interesting. Ginger ale with rocky road ice cream may be interesting.
