Lloyd Carr to retire from Michigan Wolverines. Yes Wolverine fans it is true long time Michigan Wolverines coach Lloyd Carr is retiring from coaching. His last game will be the bowl game this year after that he will no longer be coaching. The announcement was made today no official reason was given for his retirement and it is assumed that it is just because of his age and long career.

Lloyd Carr is one of the top coaches of all time in college football. He has the third highest winning record. It is sad that he will not attempt to beat the record but it is an impressive achievement with a total record of 121-40. It is a shame that Coach Carr will not be staying with the Michigan Wolverines longer to allow him the chance to break the record and have the best record in all college football history.

Coach Carr is probably the best coach that the Michigan Wolverines have ever had. Coach Carr has given the Michigan Wolverines a better then .500 record against three of the Wolverines long time rivals Notre Dame, Michigan State and Penn State. Coach Carr's record is only marred by a 6-7 against rival Ohio State.

Coach Carr's coaching achievements are impressive and long. Coach Carr is has the most wins of any active coach in college football. Coach Carr has won five beg Ten titles, and the 1997 national championship. He is the first coach that the Wolverines have had to win four straight bowl games from 1998-2001.

Not only has Coach Carr had a great football-coaching career but Coach Carr has also done so much off of the field as well as on the field. Coach Carr has been actively involved in furthering woman's athletics. He also is involved in work at a local children's hospital in Michigan. He will likely continue to be involved in the community after his retirement which makes it easier to deal with the loss of this great coach knowing there is so much good that he can provide for the community outside of football.

Being a PSU fan, I have to hate Lloyd Carr, after all he has beaten us 9 straight times. But I am so jealous of Michigan fans right now. They had a coach (Carr) who actually knew when it was time to step down, unlike the dinosaur that continues to plague our program. Nice article!
