Review: Nintendo Wii Zapper
Ok, so a few days ago I got my son the new Nintendo Wii zapper gun. The shape of the gun is interesting, its kind of like a tommy gun. I am not sure if this is the best shape for a gun, my son and I have found it quite difficult to
use it. Another problem with the zapper is the trigger, it presses up against the wiimote's B trigger to shoot. This setup doesn't seem to work very well at all, sometimes the button doesn't react, and when you need to shoot fast, it's a nightmare! you get shot and die! boo!
I have read that the main reason why the trigger is so poor to react is because there is no spring. I suggest you fanatics to keep and eye out and google for "wii zapper mod" in the future, i am sure there will be some good tutorials on how to make this work better.
Now, one of my sons favorite games is Call of Duty. We thought it was going to be great to play with the zapper and tommy gun style, but we found out it's not. The face buttons of the Wiimote have to be used in the game, and the way the zapper is setup it makes it really difficult to react and press these in the game. Again, too slow, you get shot and die! boo!
Its not all bad though, the gun itself is well made. In our home it has been dropped a few times and survived gracefully!
The game that comes with the Zapper is Link's Crossbow Training. This game is great fun for all the family! we love it in our house and are always playing against each other! You play as Link in 27 mini-games which fall into two genres: target practice and protecting Link from enemies. The second is our favourite! So my son and I really recommend the Nintendo Wii Zapper, it's not perfect, and I am sure some people will get bored of it, but having said that, its unique, and lots of families and kids will have great fun shooting!
My rating, 7.5/10
