Poll: Hillary Clinton Trails Three Republicans in Alabama, but Gap is Closing
According to Rasmussen Reports, New York Senator Hillary Clinton is running behind three of the top Republican candidates in head to head match ups in Alabama.
In a head to head match-up with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Giuliani gets 48% to Clinton's 42%. Former
Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson leads 49% to 43% and Arizona Senator John McCain leads 50% to 39%.
In a contest with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romeny, they come in tied at 43%
This is actually good news for the Clinton campaign, although being in the lead would better. Back in September, both Giuliani and Thompson both had a 16% lead over Clinton, larger than their leads are now. And Romney had a 4% lead. McCain's lead has remained the same.
In the Senate race in Alabama, it would that something momentous for a challenger to unseat incumbent Republican Senator Jeff Sessions. He leads his Democratic opponent, State Senator Vivian Figures by a margin of 62% to 30% with just 5% undecided. Sessions gets his support from 90% of the Republican voters and more than 20% of the Democrats as well as having a 2 to 1 advantage with the independent voters.
When they asked the respondents to give the Presidential candidates a favorable or unfavorable rating, the results showed up like this. Clinton has a very favorable rating of 27%, somewhat favorable 18%, somewhat unfavorable 11%, very unfavorable 41% and 3% are undecided. For Thompson it is a very favorable rating of 19%, somewhat favorable 37%, somewhat unfavorable 21%, very unfavorable12% and 10% are undecided. Next comes Giuliani at a very favorable rating of 19%, somewhat favorable 38%, somewhat unfavorable 20%, very unfavorable 19% and 5% are undecided. Romney has a very favorable rating of 11% , somewhat favorable 33%, somewhat unfavorable 28%, very unfavorable16% and are 12% undecided.
