Taylor Swift won the Horizon Award at the 2007 Country Music Awards. The only person as young as Taylor to win this prestigious award was Leann Rimes, who won the Horizon Award a decade ago. According to TaylorSwift.com, Taylor is also the youngest person to be voted by the Nashville Songwriter's Association as Songwriter/Artist of the Year. Taylor is also the first female solo artist to write or co-write all of the songs on a Platinum selling debut CD.
My daughters attended a Taylor Swift concert back in 2005, when she was still playing at county fairs. They immediately loved her for her down to earth style. Most would imagine that after attaining the level of success that she has, she would no longer find the time to say a few words to just anyone. Imagine my surprise, when I logged onto MySpace to try to connect with Taylor Swift to ask her a few questions for this article and not only was she logged in, but she actually responded to my invitation to instant message! Taylor was very busy as I expected, but was actually very friendly and responded to my request for an IM session within minutes. I was only able to ask her two questions: Do you feel that MySpace played a role in the success of your music career? And, do you use MySpace to promote your music and how is it effective?
