Two Questions for Taylor Swift: An Interview with an Up-and-Coming MySpace Artist
Apparently, Taylor has always made it a point, not only to interact openly with her fans, but also to remember those she has encounters with. According to Pollstar.com, Taylor is always interacting with her
fans and MySpace has been prominent in her communication with them. "Pollstar witnessed a Swift meet & greet this summer. At one point, she told a fan that she had just posted a comment on the girl's MySpace page." Taylor Swift has held a prominent place on MySpace since August of 2005. She quickly developed quite a following and as her songs gained popularity, MySpace remained a great place for her to showcase her music and connect with her fans. Because of her willingness to communicate with her fans, she developed a huge fan base on MySpace who played a crucial role in the success of her music career.
Here is the transcript of my very brief interview with Taylor Swift via the MySpace IM from the social networking site, MySpace.
jenisenter: Taylor, I know that you may not respond to this IM, but I really wanted to ask you a few questions about how you used MySpace as a promotional tool for your musical career.
taylorswift: I only have time for a couple, I may have to go. Thank you for asking, though!
jenisenter: Do you feel that MySpace played a role in the success of your musical career?
taylorswift: Sure! MySpace has always been a great place to hang out and get to know my fans. The real key to my success is my fans and their support!
jenisenter:How do you use MySpace to promote your music and how is it effective?
taylorswift: I just like to keep my fans up to date on all of my gigs and I like to show them the real me. I share my pictures, my music, and I really connect with my fans on MySpace. I have made tons of friends through MySpace. I love it, who doesn't lol? I really have to go now. Thanks for your support - lovelovelove - T
jenisenter: You are welcome. Thank you so much for responding to me. You are a very talented and "real" young lady!
I was very impressed with Taylor taking the time to respond to my questions. Although I only got to ask her a couple of questions and the answers were not as in depth as I would have preferred, the real content of the interview, to me, was the fact that such a successful young artist still takes the time to reach out to her fans and communicate with them in such a personal way.
