The suggested retail price is $134.50, but if you join Shaklee, it's a mere $89.60 plus the cost of the membership. Good grief! It's just cleaning supplies. For that price, I expect them to dust the bookcase for me.

Kit contents:

* Basic H2™ Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate, 16 oz. (1)
* Basic H2™ Organic Super Cleaning Wipes, 35 Wipes (1)
* Nature Bright® Laundry Booster and Stain Remover, 32 oz. (1)
* Scour Off™ Heavy-Duty Paste, 9 oz. (1)
* Hand Wash Concentrate, 32 oz. (1)
* Dish Wash Concentrate, 16 oz. (1)
* Dish Wash Automatic Concentrate, 32 oz. (1)
* Fresh Laundry Concentrate, HE Compatible, 32 oz. (Liquid) (1)
* Soft Fabric Concentrate, 32 oz. (1)
* Soft Fabric Dryer Sheets, 80 sheets (1)
* Hand Wash Decorator Dispenser (1)
* Spray Bottles (3) (one for mirrors, one for the all-purpose cleanser, and one for the degreaser)
* Laundry Measuring Scoops (1)
* Super Microfiber Cleaning Cloth
* Super Microfiber Window Cloth

Shaklee's website is long on claims about these products, but short on specifics. They claim "Nontoxic and natural" but don't list the ingredients on the website so that a potential buyer can check them out. They show a picture of the labels, but unlike most brands, the labels do not list the ingredients. They say it's organic, but so are most cleaning products. They claim "You'd have to spend more than $3,400 to get the equivalent cleaning power of the Get Clean Kit." but do not provide data to back up those claims either.

Sorry Shaklee, even if Oprah is raving about it, I can't recommend these products. She's getting paid, and paid well, to advertise your products. I'm getting paid a pittance to give an unbiased opinion. In my opinion, the products are not worth the money or the necessity of dealing with your distributors.

Oprah's Favorite Things: Shaklee Get Clean Starter Kit
Takeaways
  • It's just cleaning products.
  • Shaklee does not make it easy to find the ingredients for their products.

What I dont think alot of you are realizing is that most of the products you recieve in the starter kit are a concentrate. So you delute them with water ...I just ordered mine and I know that one of the products was 8 oz of water with 2 teaspons of basic H so really Im going to get quite a bit of usage out of it ...and save money in the long run. Not to mention improving the health of my family and helping the environment...as far as Im concerned its a win win situation.

Shaklee Fans: If a hotel promises "beachfront rooms" and Google Maps shows that it is a mile inland, I don't have to stay there to write a review that mentions the lack of beachfront. Likewise, I can report on the amazing lack of information about ingredients without buying a product. Shaklee wants to keep the ingredients secret to prevent head-to-head comparisons by consumers. Competitors can take samples to a lab :)

I HAVE TRIED SOME OF THE PRODUCTS, AND LIKED SOME MORE THAN OTHERS. THE COST IS A FACTOR. TSU, I THINK YOU DID A GOOD JOB. UNBIASED IS THE KEY WORD. I BELIEVE THAT OPRAH IS VERY HONEST, AND I TRUST HER, AS MILLIONS OF OTHERS DO, BUT SHE IS NOT AS CONCERNED WITH PRICE, AS SOME OF US ARE.

To continue - had you done ANY research, you would've answered your own question instead of reacting to "sticker shock" because of the price of the kit. Moron.

FYI Tsu, you're an idiot. http://www.womenandenvironment.org/campaignsandprograms/SafeCleaning/Responses/Shaklee.pdf "Shaklee is not willing to provide full disclosure because it provides product specific information that jeopardizes the proprietary nature of Shaklee formulations." According to the above, they are going to come up with an ingredient glossary for their website, where the ingredients are derived from, but they don't want to divulge their secret formula to be replicated. Their stuff is awesome. Don't knock it til you try it. Oh, and where do they get the info to back up the $3400 you'll save by switching to their cleaners? By all their customers! That one product, Basic H2, can be used to replace half of the cleaners under your sink, to clean windows, mirrors, floors, carpets, countertops, toilets, cars, and more. So instead of spending what you spend at the store, you spend the $15 bucks and get that bottle and dilute it with water. Had you have done ANY res

I agree with your assessment, Tsu. I actually did sell Shaklee for a while (recruited by a friend) and I thought the products were quite good. But I just can't stomach the whole MLM thing. I'd rather go to the store.

Reviewers usually..... "taste test" the food....stay at the "hotel"....watch the "movie".....This was not a "REAL" review. You did NO research on the Shaklee products and have no real answer on if OPRAH got paid to promote her favorite things. I have used Shaklee for almost a year and there is a reason this company has been around for 51 years.

I thought it was good. I'm with you Tsu. Right on.

Fascinating interpretation. What is your real concern here? Since we know you haven't tried the products or have had any dealings with a Shaklee distributor it doesn't make sense that you would label a company or a person unless there was something else behind the assertion that all MLM companies and distributors are the same. And Oprah getting paid to talk about her favorite things? Is that a fact?

This isn't even a review. Just some opinions based on looking at the website and past experiences with MLM. If the products are to be recommended or not recommended they should be at least tried. This is hardly real objective.

I have taken a look at the Shaklee Site and was pretty impressed by the partners they have. I also searched under google for any bad press, recalls, lawsuits and found nothing. I ordered the Get Clean Kit yesterday after researching all the facts. My main job is research and development for a cancer company in Honolulu. I did find the claim for the $3,400 dollar savings: The Get Clean Starter Kit replaces 830 bottles or boxes of conventional ready-to-use cleaning products you use in your house, kitchen and laundry -over $3400 of equivalent cleaning power. When you purchase the Get Clean Starter Kit instead of ready-to-use products, you're helping reduce over 100 pounds of packaging waste from landfills and eliminating 248 pounds of greenhouse gases - this is the environmental equivalent of planting 10 trees. The environmental protection agency has named Shaklee as a climate leader. I listed the partners below. I am very excited to receive the Get Clean Kit and have no proble

I had questioned Shaklee about their get clean ingredients, and they sent me a pdf file of all the ingredients including a epa seal of approval. I have used the cleaning products for the past 6 months and purchased them from a nurse friend of mine. In that time, I have had no pressure to buy more things. I love the get clean kit because I know my 2 year old isn't breathing in the toxic fumes and neither am I.
