I have a friend whose husband loves to piddle around out in his woodshop. Well, all that piddling has produced some very beautiful custom pieces of the most intricate woodworking projects you have ever seen. She had a beautiful wall unit, a custom wood hutch in her kitchen with a gorgeous custom finish. You never know what kind of things you can have made. Just make sure he knows that you give your full support.
There is something special about handmade woodworking projects, knowing that there isn't anything like it anywhere. It is a one of kind and something that you can hand down to your children and your children's children. These pieces are made with love and care, and you know that they are the highest quality you would ever find.
I have even made my own woodworking projects or two, with help of course. The big tools always made me a bit nervous, but I was fine with the hand tools. I made a Barbie doll house for my daughter one year for Christmas. I made the front of the doll house to open on a hinge, put some shake roofing on the top and painted it all blue.
She loved it and I was so proud of myself for actually being able to do it. The other project I made was a doll cradle. Nothing fancy, but it did have the curved bottom so it would rock back and forth. I am not sure whatever happened to that, but it was a great piece of work, if I may say so. But that is the extent of my woodworking projects.
You know, there aren't very many women who are interested in woodworking, and that's ok, because these men have it down right. For some reason, they are able to create such beautiful things and that is when it really means so much to you, because you know they have put a lot of love and tender care into it.
