Directors are big boss on a Hollywood movie set. They get the job done as basically the studio's overseer and film's visionary captain. Everyone goes to them for advice, guidance or if the doughnuts are stale or coffee is really bad. When we think directors, we mostly think of big personalities like Alfred Hitchcock, Howard Hawkes, Penny Marshall or Steven Spielberg. These bold, often times boisterous types call the shots and although they may have assistants, ultimately it's their call.

What if the director is a team? Instead of one boss a film cast and crew must listen to, it's a duo. It's not common in Hollywood to have a directing team, but a few of the most popular movies are brought in on budget and to great audience fanfare not by just one man or woman - but by a twosome. Working today in American movies are three great director teams. They happen also be teams made up of brothers.

Coen Brothers

Currently this quirky dynamic duo has their hit movie, No Country For Old Men making waves in the movie theaters.

They're an eclectic directing team and go from bizarre comic dramas like Raising Arizona or Barton Fink, to Oscar winners like Fargo. With their newest film, starring Javier Bardim and Josh Brolin and based on Cormac McCarthy's novel, they've gone to a very dark and violent place cinematically, but once again pull off a stylized and critically acclaimed film. Some are saying it is their best work ever.

Farrelly Brothers

For this director team, comedy is their movie art form - though some would say it's more sick or insulting, than funny.

Makers of modern comedy classics Something About Mary and Me, Myself & Irene, this brotherly duo of no limits laughter mines chuckles from the most unlikely of places. The disabled, the disenfranchised and the downright destitute are all fair game - nobody or nothing is off limits to their comedy capers. Their latest outing was the Ben Stiller starring remake of The HeartBreak Kid.

Wachowski Brothers

Here's another brother directing duo who gave us a whole new way of looking at the digital age.

I saw a few sections of "The Matrix" while surfing dismal cable offerings last night. I agree, the original is the best of the group. *****
