Christmas Craft Idea: Love Words First Christmas Ornament
There's nothing more sentimental that a couple's first Christmas together - may that be married or otherwise. This gorgeous Love Words First Christmas Ornament embraces this sentiment. Easy to create, it is a perfect way to commemorate your love story or give
as a gift to that happy couple.
For this project, you will need:
- One 3" glass ball ornament
- 7 Gypsies "Adore" print scrapbook paper (found in stores or online at Paper Addict)
- Ruler
- Decorative edge scissors (Scalloped edge works the best)
- Mod Podge or other decoupage medium
- Delta Perm Enamel Air-Dry Surface Conditioner
- Delta Perm Enamel Air-Dry Accent Liner in Gold
- Delta Perm Enamel Air-Dry Iridescent Glass Paint in Ivory Gold
- Delta Perm Enamel Air-Dry Glitter Glaze
- Sponge brush
- Artist's brush
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Gold satin ribbon
- Newspaper
Adequately cover your workspace with newspaper to prevent drips and stains. Gently remove the hanging cap from the three inch glass ball ornament and set safely aside.
With the sponge brush, coat the entire ornament in Delta Perm Enamel Air-Dry Surface Conditioner. Let the ornament set for forty five minutes to an hour before continuing. Add two coats of Delta Perm Enamel Air-Dry Iridescent Glass Paint in Ivory Gold over the entire glass surface, allowing the paint to dry completely between steps.
Measure a one inch wide strip of 7 Gypsies "Adore" print scrapbook paper. Cut with decorative edge scissors so that it is long enough to wrap around the center of the entire ornament, plus overlap by one quarter inch. Add a coat of Mod Podge or other decoupage medium to the back of the paper. Secure to the glass and smooth using your finger tips. Allow the glue to dry completely.
Personalize your ornament with Delta Perm Enamel Air-Dry Accent Liner in Gold and the artist's paintbrush. Add the words "First Christmas", the year, and the couples names. Outline the patterned paper for a dramatic effect. Add any additional details as desired, such as a wedding date or anniversary date.
