The Venusian Arts

We have all heard about them at some point in our lives. Many names define them, but that one name pops up constantly. That name also lends an ulterior motive to their actions. They are known as the PUAs, which means Pick-Up Artists. They are the experts with women, the bad boys, the dangerous ones who ride the Harleys into the sunset with the hot babes clinging to them, as if letting go means death. A PUA can walk up to any woman, and in seconds, get her number. That is one of the many urban myths. Another one is that any woman who encounters them will melt in their arms, and go home with them that very same night. They have many attractive characteristics, but the common ones are humour and charisma.

My story with them began about a year ago. I was at home one night during the holidays from my University education. One of the online chat forums had guys bitching about Singapore women, about how they were materialistic, how they only went for looks, and how nice guys are never the kind of men a woman would want. This particular guy, who posted the thread, was saying how he was giving in a lot to this woman he loved, but she eventually spurned him for someone else. It was a classic situation. I could identify with that. Many of my masculine friends could as well. Other guys came in, blasted the woman for being unworthy of his attention, while the women said he was a dear, and that they would cherish someone like that forever. "Oh, how come I don't meet up with nice guys like you?" they asked. One of the replies was terse; it was a link to some website called "Double Your Dating". I clicked on the link (motivations included curiosity, but mostly because it was too tempting to be true), and I came to this long scrolling page full of text. The message was like a granny's nag, but the point was simple - this product will make you the envy of every men.
