According to the Los Angeles Police Department, an investigation by the Los Angeles City Animal Cruelty Task Force revealed an elderly was keeping 17 live cats and kittens in her North Hollywood residence. Additionally, five deceased cats were also found there. Four of them were in the house and one was on the driveway.

The incident went down on November 20, 2007 at around 7:50 in the morning. A search warrant was obtained and served by investigators for a residence in the 5700 block of Fair Avenue.

Up to this date, the Los Angeles City Animal Cruelty Task Force had received several complaints from neighbors in the area about a residence that had numerous animals in it. The reports stated that there were numerous cats and that the place smelled of decomposition and animal feces.

The resident, a 65-year-old female animal hoarder, was taken into custody after the search warrant was served. Luckily, the woman will be able to receive psychological help from the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.

When the house was searched, the four dead cats were removed and the other deceased cat was removed from the driveway. The 17 live cats and kittens were taken into protective care at the Los Angeles Animal Services East Valley Shelter where they will receive medical treatment from a vet.

Currently, the woman is undergoing a mental evaluation to see if she needs further attention and care. As for her home, the Department of Housing placed a notice on the residence saying that it was uninhabitable and needed serious cleaning and maintenance before it could be occupied again.

The Los Angeles City Animal Cruelty Task Force is made up of "Los Angeles Police Officers and Detectives, Animal Service Officers from the Department of Animal Services and Deputy City Attorney's from the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office."

It's too late for me to read, but I really want to help you. I'm sure I'll come and actually read some of your articles later! Like I said, I know what it is like, and it is definitely not fun.
