"Moxie" Mom Gives Whole New Meaning to the Term Mother's Group

Moxie, as defined in the dictionary is a noun meaning; vigor, verve, pep; courage and aggressiveness, nerve, skill and know how. Moxie Moms LLC is a network of mothers or mothers to be which began in Boulder, Colorado by Susan Lavelle. Susan, after being laid off found herself expecting decided to create an opportunity for moms that was unique and provide them with what she herself thought was missing from her busy life. She and her husband/business partner established Moxie Moms, LLC, which is actually a networking system designed to provide mothers with contact with other mothers and with local retailers. Over the past four years this group has grown to include 14 states and approximately 15 cities in each of these states - except Colorado, which seems to have one in every city.

There are four defining segments to the Moxie Mom premise; fitness, events, partner-relationships and charity. Although the majority of the mothers involved in Moxie Moms are stay at home mothers, this group also provides a networking system for mothers who have their own business, career mothers and mother's who work from home. An events calendar for each city's group is available for members to check for information on activities and events. These events include stroller fitness, yoga, and mental health information, play dates, even foreign language classes for the little ones. The group is not a mother's group in the traditional sense of the word, nor is a play group with activities designed specifically around the children of members. It is quite unique in its approach to motherhood.
