What do you feed your dog? Do you buy the commercially produced dog food in cans or bags or do you prefer to make a home recipe dog food? Maybe you have a special recipe that your dog just loves?

Home Recipe Dog Foods are arguably one of the best types of food for your dog. Not only can you cook in bulk and freeze the food you are feeding him, but it often works out cheaper in the long run and there are also health benefits.

With home recipe dog foods, you know exactly what is in it. There are no additives, preservatives, and as long as you use fresh products, you know that the meat and vegetables you use are suitable for dogs as well as humans. Many of the commercially produced dog foods have meat in them that would never be put in a human's dinner, so why should it be OK for man's best friend? After all, a family pet is just that, Family!

When you are making a casserole for your family, have you ever thought that the same casserole can be used (maybe modified ever so slightly) to feed your dog as well? Think of all of the ingredients you would put in to your casserole. Some sort of meat, maybe chicken, beef or lamb? Well, these are all suitable for dogs. You may put vegetables in as well, these vegetables can be eaten by your dog. You could use whatever casserole is left over to feed your dog, or you could pop it in to the freezer for your dog to consume at a later date.

Maybe you are making pasta for dinner? Dogs need a diet made of 30% carbohydrates such as pasta, bread and potatoes. The best pasta type for a dog is whole wheat, so if you were to buy that, it would be more beneficial to your health as well as that of your dog, so it would be doing you both a favor!

As well as the 30% of carbohydrates, the dog needs 30% protein & 40% meat in his diet. Well guess what, chicken is both meat, protein and it contains carbohydrates, so why not make him chicken pasta? Chuck a few vegetables in and hey presto! A great meal, easy to make and cheap too!
