Many of us overindulge on rich, and unhealthy, foods on Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you've had your fair share of mashed potatoes, gravy, chocolate pies and various other foods, it is likely that you may be feeling a lit bit down on yourself. Aside from stuffed, you probably feel bloated and just negative in general about your body right now. This article shares some of the things that you should know about doing a Detox after Thanksgiving or Christmas.Detox Diet After Thanksgiving or Christmas - Drink Lots of Fluids
One of the best things that anyone on a detox diet can do is drink lots of fluids. In order to help your body eliminate some of the waste that it has recently taken in during the Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday, the best thing that you can drink is water. There are other fluids that you may want to drink if you are on a post-Thanksgiving or post-Christmas detox diet, however. Certain teas, such as green tea, are known to work as wonderful antioxidants. Certain fruit juices are also really good antioxidants, such as pomegranate juice or cranberry juice. Just be sure that you check nutrition labels before consuming too much juice, as many are high in sugar or sodium. Drinking lots of fluids is known to be an essential key to a detox diet and can help you feel better about your body after the Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday is over.
Detox Diet After Thanksgiving or Christmas - Fill Up on Lots of Fiber
Fiber is very important at any time, but it is especially important after you have indulged during the Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday. It will help your body readjust itself to your normal routine. The best thing that you can do in order to consume the proper amount of fiber is eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Whole grains are also great to add to your diet. If you are planning on eating some leftover turkey, the best way that you can do so while you are on a detox diet is add turkey, lettuce, tomato and mustard (because mayonnaise is not as healthy) to whole grain bread or a whole grain pita. Making smarter high-fiber choices is a great step to not only your detox diet, but also your overall health.
