Most of us have grown up playing with or know someone who played with toy cars when they were younger. Matchbox and Mattel have remained as the two leaders in offering creative pint-sized cars to their consumers. Eventually, as everyone must know, ideas start to run a little dry and something new does need to happen. Mattel realized this and decided to try something new.

Mattel is known for doing everything in-house. What this means is that the company has always created all of their car designs from people who work for their company. Mattel has never reached out to the outside and asked for help with their future product designs. They finally decided to do this and asked several automakers to come up with new designs.

The result was the unveiling of several designs made by many of the most popular automakers in the world. I was able to have the results of the reveal sent over to me and wanted to pass it along to you. Sadly, I can not provide you with pictures and will only be able to give you brief descriptions of the car models.

Ford unveiled a vehicle design simply known as the Ford Gangster Grin. The design was created by Steve Gilmore and sports a sleek, bullet-like design. You will notice how the car received its name by notice the wide grille is shaped to look like a gangster grin. This was a hot little design.

One of my favorite car designs was the Louts Concept. I loved how it looked like a space-age vehicle with old school trends incorporated. You could describe the car as a frog like vehicle that looks both aggressive and cute. Designed by Russell Carr, the car features signature Lotus features found on the Elise and Exige.

General Motors also stepped up to the challenge with their own design. They managed to create the General Motors Chevroletor. Designed by top company car designer, Amaury Diaz-Serrano, this is a mean little car. The car has an updated look, but also sports the retro look as well. What you end up looking at is a spruced up modern looking Corvette that looks like it is from the 1950s.
