Let's face it, Christmas can be expensive! I wanted to share some of the ways I have cut down my spending over the years. Almost everything is made with things that you already have!Have some old Christmas Cards from last year around? Use them to decorate your home interior or give as gifts!
Christmas Box Delight
What you will need:
Old Christmas Cards
Festive Wrapping Paper or festive fabric
Glue
Glitter
Shoe Box or Cigar Box
Directions:
Cut out pictures from the old Christmas Cards
Glue festive wrapping paper or festive fabric to interior and exterior of box, allow to dry.
.Glue pictures to the inside of the box, allow to dry.
Spread glue in thin layer where you want to apply glitter, ie.. Outline picture and allow to dry.
Place on table or give as a gift.
Holiday Christmas Votive Candle Holders
What you will need:
Used Christmas Cards or festive wrapping paper
Small jars, I have used baby jars and the smaller pickle jars or instant coffee jars
Glue
Glitter
Cut out scene from an old Christmas Card, or festive wrapping paper. Glue to jar and allow to dry.
Using a paintbrush, cover the outside of the jar with glue, sprinkle glitter all over it to make the jar " glisten" let dry ( you can use regular table salt and get the same effect).
Tie a piece of ribbon around the neck of the jar.
Put votive candle inside.
I like gift bags, however I hate the price of them!!!! Really, most of the time they are disgarded as soon as the gift is given. I ran across this idea and have since then.
What You Will Need:
Brown Grocery Bag
Festive Wrapping Paper
Yarn
Glue
Glitter
Candy Canes or other decorative objects.
Directions:
Fold the edges of the brown bag twice.
Make holes on both sides of the folded edges of the bag to lace yarn through
Cut out shapes from festive wrapping ( Snowmen, Christmas Trees, etc...)
Glue cutouts to bag and allow to dry
Spread thin layer of glue in areas that you would like to apply glitter.
Apply glitter and allow to dry.
Lace yarn through one hole and tie off then lace the other end through second hole, tie off to make a handle.
Tie on a Candy Cane, or other festive object for added beauty
