Choosing the Right Wedding Videographer

Choosing a company to tape your wedding can be a challenge.  With video equipment becoming more affordable to the public, there has been an influx of new videography companies advertising new and exciting shooting techniques and state of the art equipment to shoot your wedding.  What should a couple look for when choosing a wedding videography company? 

First, understand what style you want to final video to look.  There are many different types of shooting and editing techniques that companies uses to give their clients.  Look to see how long a company has been in business.  Companies that have been shooting weddings since the Eighties will probably shoot a more traditional style that you have probably seen before.  Nowadays, there are new companies that are incorporating a more modern, videojournaistic style with better editing techniques and effects that will make your final video more exciting to watch.

Second, how much money are you willing to spend.  If you're looking to spend between $500 to $1000, then you're probably going to get a single camera coverage throughout the ceremony and reception ( 8 hours).  If you're looking to spend $1000 to $1500, you are probably going to get a two camera ceremony coverage and one camera reception coverage.  This is a good package because you can have two cameras covering the most important part of the wedding.  If you're looking to spend $1500 to $2500, then you're probably looking at two cameras or more more covering both the ceremony and reception.   The prices listed above is typical in the wedding industry.  If a company is going to charge you more than what others are charging, then ask what more are they offering than the other companies.  Don't be afraid to ask for more perks in the final package if you're willing to spend more than the average price.
