Immigrants do not have to sit and wonder what to do if they are confused or having trouble understanding a particular immigration benefit. If they need immediate assistance about a case they ha
ve filed or are in the process of filing, they can call the USCIS National Customer Service Centre (NCSC) for further assistance.

Automated and Live Service Available in English and Spanish

The phone number for the NCSC is 1-800-375-5283 throughout the whole of the United States 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Although this is an automated line, live assistance is also available if you stay on the line and if you call during live service hours. At the moment, assistance is only available in English or Spanish. You will be asked to make your selection at the beginning of the recording. However, if you speak a language other than English or Spanish, you will need to ask someone to act as your translator.

If you are outside the United States, either call 785-330-1048 for just automated assistance or contact the nearest US Embassy or Consulate for advice.

Request Forms

Using the NCSC service is much more convenient for people who need quick answers to their questions. Immigrants can also request forms over the phone, such as the Change of Address AR-11 Form if they do not have access to a computer to download an electronic copy.

Be Prepared

If you are waiting to speak with a live customer service representative, you must have your A-number (alien receipt number) and specific information relating to your particular case such as the last correspondence you received from USCIS. A customer service representative will not be able to provide you with the help you need if you do not have the correct information to hand.

Waiting

Depending on the time and day that you call NCSC, you may have a long wait ahead of you, especially if you are on the line waiting for a live customer service representative to answer your call. Waits of 15 minutes or more are not uncommon, particularly during busy periods.

My brother was preparing to become a U.S. citizen and came upon this site. It is a free website that has video lessons and activities to help you prepare for your naturalization interview. I think they are new and will continue to add more free lessons. The videos and activities are pretty good. The website is http://www.vtc24.com
