I was rushing through our local Tom Thumb grocery store the other day looking for some chips to pack in my husband's lunch. I usually don't even bother putting a lot of effort into looking for healthy or organic items because hubby wouldn't give them a chance, but our Tom Thumb has recently been remodeled and seems to be trying to emphasize their organic foods. They had an endcap full of organic / natural chips, rice cakes, popcorn, etc and the display made me stop and take a second look.

The Jensen's Orchard chips initially caught my attention because of their colorful orange and green packaging. The next thing I noticed was that on the front on the package it says there are no Hydrogenated Oils, no Trans Fat, no MSG, and no artificial colors or flavors. Then I saw they are made with real spinach, artichokes, and olive oil. Hmmm ... they definitely had my attention now so I flipped the bag over to read a bit more about the nutrition facts. Here are the nutrition facts from the back of the package.

Serving Size: 1oz (approx 18 chips); Calories: 130, Total Fat: 7g, Carbs: 13g, Sodium: 290 mg, Protein: 4g. There is also an allergy notice stating that these chips contain milk and that they were produced in a facility that uses milk, soy, wheat, peanuts and tree nuts.

I decided to give them a try. I paid $2.99 for a 7 oz. bag, which is what I would have paid for any other brand of chips such as Lays, Pringles, or Frito Lay.

As soon as I got home, I opened the bag of chips to have a taste test, and talk about going green - these chips are even green in color! The green color sort of throws me a bit, and doesn't look very appealing. My husband has wandered into the kitchen by now and is standing there with that "I told you so" look, which I chose to ignore. LOL.

The back of the package says "If you love Spinach and Artichoke dip, you'll love these chips. With real spinach, artichoke, olive oil, and garlic this is the most flavorful snack you will ever experience."

These don't sound too bad, the carb count isn't that high for chips. If I see these I will have to try these out.

My favorite veggies made into a chip? Yum, must try those!

I'll have to pass on these, they look gross, but this was a good review. You made a nice point about them being a healthier alternative to other chips that are loaded with fats.

These are SO good, especially with Wal-Mart's Peach Pineapple Chipotle Salsa! Only problem is, I was buying them at Sam's in Colorado, and now can't find them in Tennessee...

Sounds interesting. What was the first ingredient on the label though?
