Dressing Up Tuna Fish: From Gravy to Melts
Next time you open a can of tuna fish instead of adding salad dressing add mayonnaise. Chop up some onions, as a sprinkle of garlic, and a spoonful of hot dog relish, add this to your tuna fish, and spread your mixture on hamburger buns.
If you like tuna fish and egg salad, why not combine them to make a tasty spread, which is perfect on bread, or a roll. This one is packed with protein and is a perfect lunch served with a handful of potato chips. This mixture is even great spread on town house crackers as a snack.
Tuna melts are something many people truly enjoy, although I have never acquired the taste for them. You simply mix the tuna with salad dressing as you normally do but add a slice of cheese and pop it in the microwave or fry the sandwich just long enough to melt the cheese. American cheese works the best according to my daughter, but I bet a slice of mozzarella cheese would make it tasty as well.
Open a can of tuna and put it in a bowl, add some shredded carrots, chopped onions, and celery. Add in a spoonful of salad dressing and you have a nice tuna salad for bread or a cracker. Some people also enjoy a scoop of this mix on a bed of lettuce to eat as a light lunch.
Tuna fish gravy is a lot better than it sounds; it is nice creamy gravy with few ingredients and is wonderful on toast. Simply open a can of tuna fish and one can of cream of mushroom soup. Dump the tuna and to soup in a pan or a bowl and cook until it is warm. Do not add milk or water to the soup, as you will dilute it too far. When the tuna and soup mixture is warm, go ahead, and spoon it over toast.
The beauty of a tuna fish sandwich is you can add just about anything to make it a tasty treat or meal. It is cheap and economical for those of us on a tight budget and it is healthy for you in its simplest form.
