Vintage Holiday Train Rides in Georgia

Holiday and Santa Claus themed vintage trains ride the rails in Georgia during the Xmas season. Santa trains are a tradition enjoyed by children and families. Georgia's Santa trains can be fount on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, SAM Shortline and at the Southeastern Railway Museum. The Christmas Express, Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway is situated in the mountains in the Chattahoochee National Forest. The excursion trip winds along the Toccoa River in vintage railcars. The trains depart from the historic depot, which was built in1905. the depot is located in downtown Blue Ridge.
The Christmas Express on Blue Ridge Railway. There will 23 scenic, festive train rides during the holiday season. Refreshments will be served at the depot before boarding the train. the train will be filled with merriment and Christmas carols. for the 2 hour, 15 minute, trip. Santa Clause will join in the fun. The Christmas Express runs weekends starting November 23, and then daily form December16 through 23. Seat limited.. Advance reservations required. Tickets: Adults $30, Children $15. 1-800-934-1898. Holiday Lights Night Trains, Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. The special excursion to view the holiday lights along the river on December 8, 15 and 21. These special excursion trains are not Santa trains and will not include a layover. Tickets: Adults $20, Children $10. Reservation advised. 1-800-934-1898.
SAM Shortline Excursion Train Cordele GA. Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites. The Santa Express bills itself as "Sleigh Bells and Rails." Southwest Trains rides began on November 24 and continue on selected dates through the Christmas season. Passengers are treated to a reading of the book "The Polar Express" and a complimentary bell.
