individuals believed to be al Qaeda in Iraq terrorists and two others were also detained during missions in Iraq. The purpose of the missions was to seek out criminals within the country.

During one mission U.S. Special Forces and an Iraqi Emergency Response Unit stormed an area within Doura looking for those thought to be responsible for crimes in the area. Those crimes included murder and kidnapping among others. Seven individuals were captured during the mission.

In another mission, U.S. Special Operations Forces as well as the Habbaniyah Special Weapons and Tactics team searched an area in western Baghdad hunting for an individual believed to be an al Qaeda in Iraq smuggler as well as someone that hides al Qaeda terrorists.

He is stated as being one that gives shelter to al Qaeda in Iraq terrorists that are connected to attacks and ambushes on military forces with improvised explosive devices in and around Habbaniyah.

Coalition forces were able to capture four individuals during the mission.

In another area U.S. personnel and Iraqi Special Operations Forces searched an area in Mosul to break up terrorist operations in the area. Two were captured.

There were no reports of any injuries to military personnel during the missions.

Thirteen individuals were held after an air attack operation in Sayafiyah, Iraq, conducted by members of Company B, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment. Sayafiyah is located close by to Salman Pak.

A member of al Qaeda in Iraq, and wanted for smuggling weapons as well as funding attacks on Coalition forces, one of those captured is of high value to the military.

"According to our intelligence, the insurgent we apprehended was an expert bomb maker and VBIED (vehicle borne improvised explosive device) maker," said 1st Lieutenant Matthew Barwick, from Lanham, Md., fire support officer for Co. B. "By apprehending him, we have taken a very dangerous person off the streets and made the area safer."
