I've Met Lonely

I met lonely onceOn a bus stop bench after dark
The cold and empty surrounded
Fierce like a hard right hand
I saw him, not as the stranger
I thought he'd be
But someone very familiar
He was a lot like me
I was glad to meet him
For he brought a lesson learned
So many are so unlucky
And I have somewhere to turn
They weren't very far from where I sat
Yet I've kept them out of my world
They fight, every night, for just a little
Of what I own
I think of all my bitching and complaining
When I've really had it quite good
No battles with the bottle, no heavy debt
The world's shared more with me than pain
Love has been my companion
The bus had come, me and lonely got on
Once again one and the same
But now, it's all different
My eyes are able
To see more than only my view
