Maglev Wind Turbines Offer More Wind Energy Than Windmills

Our efforts to produce technological updates to products and machinery that are lacking in performance is very important. These updates are allowing us to create products that are more environmentally conscious. It is our mission to find ways in which we can better use our depleting energy sources and to find new methods to create energy. A lot of our energy is obtained through harnessing wind power. There have been many companies that have claimed to have creative innovative wind power solutions in the past. Those same companies have yet to prove what they were trying to sell us. Chinese power company Zhongke Henqyuan Energy Technology (ZHET) has created the Maglev wind turbines, something that should impress all of us.

Taking a quick glimpse at the Maglev wind turbine may make you believe you are looking a giant air filter. The design is similar in the look, but the concept is amazingly different. Maglev wind turbines use fully-permanent magnets that allow the turbine to eliminate friction by floating the blades about what is known as the base. ZHET is informing everyone that the technology developed is capable of being made to the scale of massive sizes. For example, a $53 million dollar turbine would be able to replace 1000 traditional windmills and even power 750 thousand homes. Talk about a lot of power!

Experts are already saying that this invention is too good to be true. Tests performed in front of hundreds of companies have proved that the technology is very real. Some of the other benefits include the ability for the turbine to generate power from winds that can be as slow as three miles per hour. One major benefit is that these turbines will run at operation costs that are 50 percent cheaper than windmills. Also, the estimated lifespan of one of these bad boys is being told to be 500 years. Companies are jumping around with excitement at the potential that these wind turbines possess.
