Gift wrapping fees
Many holiday shoppers opt for gift wrapping services. These services are usually offered at large shopping malls and specialty retail stores. While gift wrapping services can be very convenient, they can actually cause you to spend more money than necessary. Gift wrapping fees can cost anywhere from $5 to $20 for one item being wrapped for the holidays. If you have three holiday gifts to be wrapped, that could end up costing you $60. That extra money could be saved for next year or used on more practical items such as food.

Even at the lowest rate for gift wrapping services, there is no need to spend $15 on gifts that you already paid money for. Gift wrapping fees are one typical way you are wasting money this holiday season. One trip to a discount store will allow you to obtain gift wrapping elements for no more than $5. You could get large rolls of holiday gift wrapping paper, scissors, bows and tape and still have some leftover for additional gifts. Most people already have some of these tools at home. Therefore, the potential savings is even higher.

Personal Holiday Shoppers
If it is not a free service, you are wasting money this holiday season. Personal shopping has become a popular profession for some men and women. Therefore, if this is a business, you can bet your wallet that it will not be cheap when it comes to the rates charged to use personal shopping services. You could be spending up to $100 for some personal shopping services. This is one easy way that you are wasting money this holiday season.

The article "Holiday Shopping tips for impatient people" recommends this as a helpful option. However, if you have more patience than the average person and can actually spend some time at the mall on your own, this could be a great way to save money during the holidays. Some stores offer a complimentary personal shopping service. If a nearby store offers it, this may be a better way to go then spending extra money on a personal shopper. You can tell the store representatives what you are looking for and they will find it for you and may even provide gift wrapping at no extra cost.

I was out of the country the last couple of holiday seasons. I had totally forgot that we pay for gift wrapping here. Most places include this free (at any time of year) for items bought in the store.
