I am not happy with Discovery Kids products because they overrate their items and that too it is simply not worth the price. If the toy had been something unique and innovative, no doubt they could have priced it high. But these are run of the mill products with mediocre concept and construction. The name "Discovery Exclusive Lullaby Light Show" was really catchy and I expected it to be something like a miniature version of the laser light or micro fiber light show toys. But this so disgusting to note that the name itself is a misnomer and highly hyped.

Going by the description I expected the so called light show to be stage for at least 10 to 15 minutes. Even the locally made toys available at corner stores for one fourth the price plays music and displays image for 15 minutes. Having paid $26 it is irritating to learn that the Discovery Lullaby is capable of displaying the light show for only 5 minutes. By the time my kid gets attracted to it and starts engrossed in the show, it goes off. Then she cries and I have to wind it all over again to pacify her. I thought this would put her to sleep, but this toy is working against me. In stead of making her happy, this short and intermittent display of light disturbs her.

I wish this comes with a on or of switch so that I don't have to manually key the toy every 5 minutes. In that case I can switch it off once my baby goes to sleep. Then coming to the lullaby song, it lasts for 5 minutes and gets automatically turned off. This is probably designed for those gifted babies who are blessed to fall asleep within 5 minutes they go to bed. This is relatively heavy and hence is not that easy to wind it with one hand.

The Light Show displays a range of animals and figures that keeps revolving and the wall and the ceiling acts as the screen. Initially the images were light and could were not attractive enough. I thought it was because of the sunlight and pulled all the curtains and made the room totally dark with no hole left for the light to enter. Still the show was not satisfactory. Then I realized that this unit has to be mounted to at least to 4 feet height and then only the real show begins with all the contrasting light and music.
