Jigsaw
One of the first essential woodworking power tools is the jigsaw. A jigsaw is used to cut circular and curved patterns in wood. Most designs will simply move the blade up and down. If you want more versatility, you should look for a jigsaw that uses orbital action. These woodworking power tools should also allow you to change the blade easily.
Circular Saw
One of the next essential woodworking power tools is the circular saw. A circular saw is a handy alternative for various other tools. If you are a beginner, you may have a difficult time using these woodworking power tools. However, as you learn to use the saw, you will be able to use it to cut pieces of wood very quickly.
Orbital Sander
A random orbital sander is also one of the essential woodworking power tools. These are preferred instead of palm sanders because they can leave sanding marks on the wood. A random orbital sander will be less likely to leave these marks because it sands in random motions instead of using patterns. You will need to have an available supply of sanding disks if you want to use one of these woodworking power tools.
Power Drill
One of the next woodworking power tools is the power drill. Most designs will have variable speed controls so that you can adjust the RPMs depending on the material you're drilling. These woodworking power tools come in cordless and corded designs. Cordless drills are more convenient, but can't match the power produced by corded designs.
Miter Saw
One of the next woodworking power tools that you should have is a compound miter saw. A compound miter saw is used to cut compound angles on the edge of pieces of stock. These woodworking power tools will likely replace your circular saw after you have gained experience with them.
