Almost everyone has an older person in their life that they care about and want to let know they appreciate. It is well known that ailments and older age walk along hand-in-hand. The following is a list of ten items that might be great ideas for that special older someone on your list.

One: Two common ailments that occur during aging are arthritis and/or diminishing eye sight. Either one of these alone can cause grief for every day tasks but put them together and even the simplest duties such as getting dressed can become difficult to conquer. Many people may not know it but there is an easy solution to solve this dilemma; velcro closures. If you search, you will find with relative ease, reputable stores that have shirts, pants and shoes with velcro closures on them. This is an easy way to allow for persons to dress themselves without assistance who may not have been able to do so for quite some time.

Two: Bathroom bars. Volunteering to install them or have them installed would add an even better touch. Getting in and out of bathtubs or off of commodes can prove troublesome as one ages. Having a sturdy bar to grip while getting out of the bathtub (or shower) or off of the commode can make all fo the difference in the world for someone who is having trouble with either. The added safety one feels with a grip bar can be phenomenal and the assurance gained allows one to feel more in control of themselves as they are better able to handle these tasks on their own that they once took for granted.

Three: A telephone with large buttons. The popularity for telephones today is outrageous but they trend is that smaller is better. This may be so in many cases, but as a person ages small telephones can be frustrating. They are difficult to maneuver and control and the numbers are hard to push or see. A telephone with large buttons can be a great aid. Pre-programming frequently used numbers into the telephone is an even greater addition.
