There is no other way to put it, The Simpson's Game for the Nintendo Wii sucks.

This game was a title I was waiting to come out onto the console, because well, the commercials made the game look gnarly.

What I got:

The first part of the game I was actually playing in Homer's dream. It had a Willy Wonka type theme to it, with chocolate rivers, candy, and donuts.

It seemed cool, but once I got to using the controls I realized from the get go that this game was going to suck. You steer the character using the nun chuck, and you jump by pressing buttons on the wii mote.

That was easy, except when the character jumps, he does not go very far, so really having him jump is really annoying.

The main issue I had though was not with the odd controls, it was with the goddamn in game set up.

You know how when you are playing adventure games, the game itself sort of prompts you where to go...or you can clearly see the pathway up ahead? Well in The Simpson's Game, finding paths, roads or walkways to go to is hard. You do not know if you are heading in the right direction because EVERYTHING looks the same.

The first part of the game, which is basically a tutorial on the controls, was more like a goddamn maze for me. I didn't know which was to go, I ended up taking a journey through the chocolate board from the beginning, around, around, back to the beginning....wait, where the hell am I? Wrong way....argh!

The Simpson's Game gets frustrating, and it gets frustrating fast.

Just when I thought the game couldn't suck any more than the tutorial sucked I was taken to the next part of the game where I was now in control of steering Bart. However I also needed to find a way to manipulate the computer generated Homer into sitting his ass still on this stupid switch.

Homer though would follow me around, and around, and around, and it took me nearly 15 minutes to figure out how to get him to sit on the switch without moving. I still don't know how I did it, it was luck really.

I also had no clue how to use Bart. He would remain normal Bart, in normal clothes...and then suddenly he'd transform into Bat Bart.

Thats awesome that you make him save for things he wants. My sister should do that, she tries to make her kids save...but they moan, and then just ends up buying. I would stick to my guns and make the lil buggers save every cent if they wanted something so exxtravagant.

Oh, I know! My son beat that last one in eight hours. PUNK! I agree - I hate paying that much for something that's going to get beat that fast - so I made him pay for the Guitar Hero stuff himself. The other stuff, I just buy used, after people start trading the games in. If he wants it the day it comes out, for retail price, he knows he'd better figure something else out (besides asking me). LOL.

Guitar Hero is pretty cool, but it looses that 'cool' factor in about a month... I think that is just too much money for a month worth of entertainment.

See - he also wants the latest Guitar Hero game for the PS2 - for $170! And they don't plan to sell used components! Screw that noise!

I know what you mean about the fliers. I told my one of my daughters that I thought my son was spoiled and she said 'everyone wants the X-box'. LOL. I guess I'm mean. Funny thing is, I just realized, he used those requests as leverage to get the $100 cell phone that he *really* wants. Stinky, I mean, sneaky! ;P

My brother has xbox360... he plays it whenever hes got free time. The graphics are pretty sweet. Wii has released 'some' impressing games, but most of what I have played has been dissapointing. Super Mario Galaxy so far has been my favorite... and MP8.

oH THATS terrible about the fliers! People are sick you know that! People are also dumb to buy a flier for $300... add another $300 for the wii! I would rather wait it out then pay $600 for a console!

PS: At one store in my area, the people who started camping out (starting 24 hours in advance) were given fliers - there was one flyer for each WII available and you had to present one at the door in order to buy one. Once the fliers were all handed out, people started selling the fliers to the highest bidders. Most fliers went for $100, while the last went for something like $300. Talk about nuts! LOL!

I hear ya, Melissa. I was debating on getting a WII this Christmas, as you may already know, and had the chance to do it for a killer price (but would have had to camped out at the store on Black Friday - LOL) , yet when I thought of all the reviews you've written about the over-priced, sucky WII games (You've only like a few, if memory serves), I just figured it wasn't worth it. Now my son is working me for an X-Box 360 or a PSP, because his PS2 is just not enough. I ask - what has he done for me lately? LOL. j/k. But the kid is getting spoiled! GRR!

I think it is crazy that Nintendo still does not have enough consoles on shelves to accomodate people. Its been a year, they should of by now had their crap together yah know! That sucks that someone has to dedicate an entire day (in some cases more) to waiting on lines in hopes of getting a system.

The Wii is hard to find. If you don't mind waiting in a long line for hours you may have a little luck. One lady said she waited at one store from 5 a. m. until the store opened at 8 a. m. Only the first twenty people in line were lucky enough to get them. The other people were told to come back, the next shipment would be in between 2 p. m. and 7 p. m. She went back at noon. The shipment came in a little past 7 p. m.. she got one this time. She said around 150 people were in line and only 90 Wii's came in. An excellent article on the Simpson's game.

OoOoo Dave you have my head pumping with ideas... this may take awhile,, but thanks for the article idea... I hope no one sees this. lol. I want to write it first. -My first recommendation for the wife, and one the whole family will love would be Mario Party 8. Target had 14 wii's in last week, the sales associate was surprised they stood on the shelves for as long as they did. He said that when they come in they are all gone in an hour. I cannot believe that people are still having a hard time obtaining one. Nintendo needs to amp their release up a bit... Its been a freakin year, and still the wii is hard to get! Thats nuts! I wish you all the luck getting the system though, youre going to love it.

OK, this should be easy and here's what I want you to do! hehe. Write an article summarizing all the Wii games you have and your feelings about them. My wife wants to get one of these (if/when we can find one) so it would be nice to have one person's view of what she owns and how she likes the games! Dave
