Everywhere you look now it is "Christmas" but for some reason you just don't seem to be so cheerful. The stores are all crowded and you seem to be fighting to just get a parking place! This only lets you know that you still haven't gotten all your gifts and the selection is getting picked over.

Get rid of the negative attitude with these tips

Decorate your house for Christmas

Go ahead put that tree up and all the twinkling lights. This always seems to make me feel a little more cheery, just looking at all the pretty ornaments that I have collected though out the years brings back precious memories. I always buy pine or cinnamon scented candles to decorate my table with..note:there are some electric oil scented assorted Christmas Fragrances at your local grocery store.

Play Christmas music and movies

"Joy to the World", "Little town of Bethlehem" all the way to "I'll be home for Christmas" Christmas music makes me feel emotional . It brings back memories of Christmas past with family and friends.
I'm not so much of a "tv person" but I really do like to watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation every year. I also enjoy Home alone and Frosty the Snowman. It sort of brings out the "kid" in you to watch the movies sometimes! I

Get involved with a Christmas Play

This is a wonderful thing that is actually a lot of fun! Maybe you don't want to be one of the actual "Star" in the play but I bet they could use you in the back to help get the costumes together and organize the stage settings. Our Church has a wonderful Christmas play every year. The children and teens of our Church give this play their all! Really a rewarding experience just to be able to lend a helping hand with this.

Donate to Charity

I like to buy my Christmas cards from Unicef. This organization helps kids in so many different ways with the money that you spend on these cards. You can also donate to different organizations such as the Toys for Tots or the Project Angel Tree..this is the one that I love. There are many more that you can donate to. So many of the local Church's get together and donate to some wonderful different organizations at Christmas.

Bake a treat for your neighbor or co-worker

Awe, this was adorable. I couldnt find my Chrsitmas spirit this year, till I began working on outdoor lighting. Once I got started I noticed I was more Jolly.... so.... I went all out Chevy Chase style, and that was how I got hold of my inner childs christmas spirit. I didnt realize something as simple as lights and decorations could get me there. -Very lovely piece.

Christmas movies usually do it for me. How can anyone be sad when watching "A Christmas Story"?

I think the shortness of daylight plays some role, but my solution is the opposite of yours--ignore it and wait for it to go away (though I look forward to my Christmas goose).

These are great suggestions! Always felt the most valuable gift you can give is your time, rather than something bought in a store.
