If you think you can drop Fido off and leave, well, think again. This camp is for dogs AND their owners. Is definitely a place where you and your beloved canine can get away and reconnect and enjoy each other.

Camp Gone to the Dogs caters to those folks who wish to vacation with their dogs. It is meant as a bonding experience. They are located in Stowe and Marlboro Vermont and have a website http://www.campgonetothedogs.com/ this is a nice site and your cursor is a small yellow dog. They seem to be the largest camp with 250 acres to do a week of exploring and making fun memories.

Also, Camp Winnaribbun, a camp in Stateline, Nevada runs about 1000-1425 members which depends on sleeping arrangements for a week. You can stay in rustic cabins with electricity or even an upscale inn on the shores of Lake Tahoe. There is also great food from one of the chefs daily. Quality of food is said to be quite good. They call it on their website a resort destination. http://www.campw.com/

The dogs at these camps are stars! They have a wide variety of activities from Frisbee to obedience training. Some camps have lure coursing which is chasing a mechanical lure to stimulate a chasing game and also Fly ball which is a relay race for them. Hiking is also normally an option.

There is a crafty class where you can make nose and paw prints, make tie dye t-shirts and even attend a writing class where you can compose stories and poems about your beloved canine friend. You also can make a commemorative color for your week at camp and many have photographers to catch your special moments.

The camps are geared for all ability levels. There is even an intro class which I suggest so that you know how well your pooch adjusts to all the excitement. It is very much like our children who we know all react to situation in different manners.

There seems to be no better a situation than to share with other dog lovers and spend time with your own pooch. Long lasting friendships are formed as well. There are registration forms online so you can decide when you can attend and plan accordingly.

I am not a big animal fan, but this was a fun article to read.

I've read about dog camps. It would be fun, but my pooches would not behave! I guess I need to take them to a training camp.

That is such a wonderful idea to be able to take your doggie on a vacation camping where he/she can play and learn all kinds of good things. My chihuahua needs this... maybe I could teach him not to chew on everything. He doesn't even touch his toys.. but he chewed the wrung off the bottom of a dining room chair! This would be good for him.
